Imagine Scientific, Inc. awarded SBIR Direct Phase 2 Grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the Development of STARLIGHT TM, its Next Generation X‐ray Imaging Technology |

NORWOOD, MA, October 22, 2022---Imagine Scientific, Inc., a privately held X-ray technology and medical device company, has been awarded a Direct Phase 2 grant of $1.94 million dollars from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. This grant will accelerate the development of STARLIGHT TM, its monochromatic X-ray technology for diagnostic imaging. Monochromatic X-rays represent a significant enhancement to medical imaging, offering better detection of cancerous lesions and other abnormal pathologies, while significantly lowering radiation exposure without adding to the cost of imaging systems. |

In its first clinical application, the STARLIGHT technology will be used in X-ray mammography to considerably advance screening and diagnosis of breast cancer. "The benefits are important for all women and dramatic for women with thick and dense breasts who have often experienced frustratingly inconclusive results with conventional mammography," said Eric Silver, PhD, Founder and CEO of Imagine Scientific. "STARLIGHT provides higher detectability, significantly lower radiation dose and the ability to perform a mammogram without compression." |
